We are inviting climbers of all levels Novice, Expert or Premier to participate in this UK OPEN 3ATC event. Climbers equipment must meet current best practice and industry standards covered by LOLER 1998. We will accept entries from trainee climbers but they must make this clear in advance on the day of the event.

We run three separate categories and prizes for this open event Novice, Expert and Premier level. Places are limited due to the number of climbers we can manage each day so advance booking is recommended. Our judges are there to ensure your safety during this event which is scored as much on safe climbing as it is on speed and task control. We would urge participating climbers to download and read the rules and score sheet in advance to give yourself the best chance of winning in your level.

Entry to this event costs only £20 plus VAT per entry for Novice, Expert and Premier climbers. Entry fee now includes FREE ARB Show entry for the competitor only if booked in advance!. Your first climb is scored for prizes. The event is sponsored by the internet jobs notice board for our industry www.arbjobs.com who have always been very generous in their prizes for each level in the past. I hope to be able to define these further in the near future. To enter please book online via the Arboricultural Association website.

The 2017 ARB Show returns to Westonbirt, The National Arboretum. If you are involved in the tree care industry there will be lots for you to see and do at this popular national event check out the latest equipment and demo’s book in to our suite of workshops and watch demonstrations, hosted by companies such as STIHL get involved and take part in our 3ATC tree climbing competition or have a go at our throw line or recreational climbing area. There will also be ample opportunity to view and purchase new equipment with leading UK suppliers and the National Arboretum is also offering discounted access to our visitors so why not take advantage to look at our stunning national collection during your visit.

The ARB Show, Westonbirt

An internationally renowned tree collection, heritage landscape and fantastic location for playing, walking, relaxing and learning about nature. What will Westonbirt Arboretum be to you?



Westonbirt restaurant The restaurant offers tasty, freshly prepared hot and cold refreshments including soups, sandwiches, savoury snacks, cakes and pastries along with a seasonal menu of hearty meals.

The Westonbirt Restaurant also serves alcoholic drinks including wine, beer, cider and lager.

Food is prepared and cooked onsite, whilst the fresh bread is a variety of Hobbs House Bakery and home made breads using local Shipton Moyne flour.

Westonbirt restaurant Alongside a healthy and freshly prepared children's menu and great choices for grown-ups, there are ocassional activities at the restaurant to keep children entertained and loving the arboretum.

The Westonbirt Restaurant welcomes breast feeding and has bottle warming facilities. High-chairs are also available.

The restaurant is currently open from 9.30am to 4pm each day.

Breakfast is served from 9:30am - 11am.

Lunch is served from 11:30am - 3pm with sandwiches and afternoon tea available until close.


In addition, the Westonbirt Cafe offers outdoor seating and serves take-away teas, coffees and a range of hot and cold snacks.

The cafe opens at peak times during the summer and in autumn.

Picnic area

For those who like to bring their own food, the picnic area is set amongst the trees, there are picnic benches and tables close to the main parking area which can be used all year round.

Getting to Westonbirt

Westonbirt Arboretum is situated in Gloucestershire on the A433, approximately three miles south west of Tetbury. Look out for the brown visitor attraction signs from the M4 and M5.

From M4 (approx 20 mins)

Exit Motorway at Junction 18. Take the A46 north towards Stroud. After a few miles turn right onto the A433 (signed Cirencester). Continue on this road for approx three miles and the arboretum is on your left.

From M5 (approx 20 mins)

Exit at Junction 13 onto the A419 (towards Stroud) Take the A46 (towards Bath). After going though Nailsworth, you come to traffic lights at the cross-roads. Turn left onto A4135 to Tetbury. In Tetbury, turn right on the A433. Continue on this road, passing through Doughton, for approx three miles. The arboretum is on your right.
